Pural Water Specialty, Inc.

About:

Pural Water Specialty Company, Inc. is a one-stop, full service water solutions provider of water treatment, wastewater treatment and process solutions, Pural has been serving the people of Hawaii and the Pacific for over 20 years and has offices on the Maui, Oahu and he Big Island. The products and services the company offers are designed to optimize total water/process system performance and protect the environment through water and energy conservation.

Challenge:
Pural has been experiencing growth in the local market over the past few years. With the increase in demand, the need to increase operating efficiencies within and between the two geographically disbursed offices on Maui and Oahu was becoming very apparent to Earl Ichimura, President of Pural. The company was heavily reliant on paper processes and each of the three offices had its own system of coding and tracking jobs and documents.
Pural began the process of transformation with Earl's vision to become a totally paperless office within three years. Scanning equipment and document management software were purchased and setup, people were trained and prepared, and the process of enabling a digital flow of information began but Pural did not have an efficient way of sharing documents over a wide area between the Maui, Oahu and Big Island offices. RevaComm was asked to analyze the situation and propose a solution.

Solution:
WAN Solution

Using a point-to-point system, two dedicated T1 connections were utilized to link PURAL's Maui and Oahu offices into a server located in a secure data center on Oahu, creating a single and private wide-area network for the company.
The Point-to-Point network was fully encrypted behind a firewall so that network information would not be passed from location to location via the internet. With this set up all users within the private network (in office) on Oahu* and Maui* have an internet connection available to them via the trunk line, removing the need for a separate internet connection at each office location.
For satellite locations on the Big Island, a VPN was created for individual users to access the network resources through the firewall via CISCO VPN Client.

VoIP Solution

With a Point-to-Point T1 system connection, RevaComm was ales able to integrate voice and data by deploying a VoIP (Voice over IP) phone system virtually eliminating all inter-office Long Distance charges. Offices on all three islands make use of the same phone systems, and give the appearance that everyone is in the same office. Customers can call one number, no matter which island, and a single person can distribute the calls accordingly or each person can have their own direct number, eliminating the need for extensions and / or call routing.
If Pural were to open offices on other islands, on the mainland or in other countries the new office would simply need a handset and internet connection and become a part of the existing companywide phone system.
