About:

Pural Water Specialty Company, Inc., is a one-stop, full service water solutions provider of water treatment, wastewater treatment and process solutions, serving the people of Hawaii and the Pacific for over 20 years. The company offers products and services designed to optimize total water/process system performance and protect the environment through water and energy conservation.

Challenge:
With increased business, and as a result, increased demand, Pural recognized the need to streamline operations among its three offices in Maui, Oahu and the Big Island which all used separate systems for paper processing, coding and tracking.

Pural looked to RevaComm to create a more efficient business operating system and realize Pural President Earl Ichimura’s vision of becoming a paperless office. While the company had purchased and setup scanning equipment and document management software, the company did not have a system for sharing documents over a wide area between its offices.

Solution:
RevaComm created the following solutions to meet Pural’s needs:

WAN Solution

Using a point-to-point system, two dedicated T1 connections were utilized to link PURAL's Maui and Oahu offices to a server located in a secure data center on Oahu, creating a single and private wide-area network for the company.

The Point-to-Point network was fully encrypted behind a firewall so that network information would not be passed from location to location via the web. The set up enabled all users within the private network (in Oahu and Maui offices) to access Internet connection via the trunk line, removing the need for a separate Internet connection at each location.

For satellite locations on the Big Island, a VPN was created for individual users to access the network resources through the firewall via CISCO VPN Client.

VoIP Solution

With a Point-to-Point T1 system connection, RevaComm was able to integrate voice and data by deploying a VoIP (Voice over IP) phone system virtually eliminating all inter-office long distance charges. Offices on all three islands use a consistent phone system, and give the appearance that everyone is in the same office. Customers can call one number, no matter which island, and a single person can distribute the calls accordingly or each person can have their own direct number, eliminating the need for extensions and/or call routing.

Should Pural expand to other islands, the mainland or other countries, the new office would simply need a handset and Internet connection and become a part of the existing companywide phone system.
